(Kirksville, Mo.) - The Missouri S&T Miners won 10-of-11 events en route to a
150-55 win over Truman State in its final dual meet of the season on Friday evening in Kirksville, Mo.
S&T (4-0) got off to a strong start by going 1-2 in the 400 yard relay. The "B" squad consisting of
Brian Howell (Norman, Okla./Norman North),
Zlatan Hamzic (Panceva, Serbia/Uros Predic),
Kyle Kammer (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) and
David Sanchez-Turner (Madrid, Spain/Academic Torvell) won the race with a time of 3:28.60 over the other Miner squad of
Jeff Enge (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial),
Zac Lemons,
Andy Schranck and
Hamilton Vernon (Omaha, Neb./Burke) who finished nearly three seconds behind them.
Danny Murphy (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) won the 1000 yard freestyle and the 200 yard butterfly with times of 9:40.76 and 1:56.93.
Andrew Trowbridge (Arlington, Texas/Arlington) also took first in a pair of events winning the 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle. Trowbridge recorded a time of 1:47.54 in the 200 and 4:44.33 in the 500.
Kammer and Hamzic went 1-2 in the 200 yard IM with times of 1:58.68 and 1:59.64.
Kyle Gordon (Superior, Colo./Monarch) won the 100 free covering the pool in 48.67. Howell (1:55.59) and Kammer (1:58.64) took the top two spots in the 200 yard backstroke while Lemons won the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.14 followed by Enge in second (2:14.74).
The team of Schranck, Trowbridge, Howell and Sanchez-Turner won the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:12.77 and Murphy, Vernon,
Agi VanWetering and Gordon were second finishing in 3:13.81.
The Miners will return to the pool February 11-14 when they compete in the New South Championships in Cleveland, Miss.
