Box Score Rolla, Mo. - The Missouri S&T women's soccer team got a goal with a little over two minutes to play but it still came up a goal short in a
2-1 loss to Quincy at the S&T Soccer Field on Friday evening in Rolla, Mo.
The Hawks (9-5-1, 6-3 GLVC) jumped on the board first with a goal in the 13th minute from Jenna Boyko who ran down a pass from Becky Fleming and knocked it in from 15 yards away. The Lady Miners (6-7-1, 3-6-1 GLVC) had their opportunities in the opening frame outshooting the Hawks by an 8-7 margin and put four of those on goal but were unable to sneak one past Quincy's Toni Eye.
Kelsey Kurilla (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) stopped two of the three shots she faced in the frame.
The second half was an evenly played contest with each side attempting seven shots but Quincy scored the eventual game winner on a goal from Fleming from the wing 15 yards away in the 87th minute. S&T cut the lead in half almost a minute and a half later when
Rachel Wille (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) knocked home a rebound after the initial shot was blocked for her first goal of the year.
The Lady Miners finished the contest outshooting the Hawks by a 15-14 margin but Quincy had seven shots on net compared to just five for S&T. Kurilla finished the match with five saves while
Melia Miller (Richardson, Texas/J.J. Pearce) led the way for the offense with four shots, two on goal.
