QUINCY, Ill. — Missouri S&T women's soccer battled Quincy to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at Jack Mackenzie Field, as the Miners moved to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.
Missouri S&T struck first in the 27th minute when freshman forward
Lily Simpson (Lexington, KY/Lafayette) found the back of the net off an assist from
Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit). Benassi created the opportunity for Simpson, who gave the Miners a 1-0 advantage at the 26:27 mark.
S&T carried the lead into halftime after limiting Quincy to just one shot during the opening 45 minutes. The Miners recorded six shots and five corner kicks in the first half.

Head Coach Matthew Perry. "We took a different approach today, and the girls really bought into it. We are disappointed with the goal we conceded but overall happy with a point. There won't be many teams that play here and take points off these, so we will take it and use it for the next one!"
Quincy responded in the second half, tying the match in the 56th minute when Rebecca Rheinheimer scored off an assist from Jessie Newton.
The Miners continued to create chances through the rest of the match, finishing with 11 shots, including six on goal, compared to nine shots and four on goal for Quincy.
Ella Kramer (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) led S&T with three shots, putting two on frame, while
Aubrey Case (Yorktown, VA/Tabb) recorded two shots with one on goal.
Goalkeeper
Catie Riddle (Westland, MI/Churchill) made three saves in the contest, including two in the final 10 minutes, to help preserve the draw.
Neither team found the game-winning goal in the final minutes, sending the match to a 1-1 draw.
The Miners finished with a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks and committed 15 fouls to Quincy's 10. S&T received yellow cards from
Savannah Tully (Elkhart, IN/Elkhart) in the 17th minute and
Carlye Bennett (St. Louis, MO/Saint Joseph's Academy) in the 85th minute.
Missouri S&T is now 3-1-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.
What's Next
S&T will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 16, hosting Rockhurst. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
