JOPLIN, Mo. — Missouri S&T women's volleyball remained unbeaten to open the 2026 season, earning a pair of victories Saturday at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. The team set a program record for blocks in a five-set match with 16 against Southeastern Oklahoma State, then later set another program record with 18 service aces in their sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Miners opened the day with a three-set sweep of Northwestern Oklahoma State before rallying for a five-set victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Miners then faced Southeastern Oklahoma State in a back-and-forth five-set battle, overcoming a 2-1 deficit to claim the match 25-14, 22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-10. Missouri S&T finished the match with a .170 hitting percentage and recorded 57 kills.
Addie Schoenberger (Menomonee Falls, WI/Sussex Hamilton) paced the Miners with 13 kills while hitting .242 and added eight blocks for a team-high 17 points. Decker and Wilke each recorded 12 kills, with Wilke adding six blocks for 15 points. Decker finished with 14.5 points, while
Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) contributed seven kills and six blocks.
Missouri S&T took control early against Southeastern Oklahoma State, winning the opening set 25-14. The Savage Storm answered by taking the next two sets, but the Miners responded by winning the fourth set 25-19 to force a deciding fifth set. Missouri S&T closed out the match with a 15-10 victory in the final set.
Missouri S&T defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 in its first match of the day. The Miners hit .145 as a team while holding Northwestern Oklahoma State to a .014 hitting percentage.
Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln-Way West) and
Danielle Wilke (Palmer Lake, CO/Palmer Ridge) led the offense with nine kills apiece, while Decker added five service aces.
Selin Ozdemir (Ankara, Turkey/Bilim) contributed six kills and three blocks.
With Saturday's two victories, Missouri S&T moves to 4-0 on the season and continues its strong start to the 2026 campaign.
What's Next
Missouri S&T will continue its season next week in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, for the Ouachita Baptist Reddie-Tiger Invitational. They will take on Ouachita Baptist and Texas A&M International on Friday, September 4. Then they will play Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Christian Saturday, September 5.
