QUINCY, Ill. -- Missouri S&T Men's Volleyball is looking to extend their seven-match win streak over the weekend, facing the Quincy Hawks on the road this Friday and Saturday.
About the Miners
S&T is 14-5 this year with an 8-2 in-conference record. They have won their last seven matches and are on a nineteen-set win streak as well, sweeping their last six contests.
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) is coming off of his most efficient Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) pair of matches of the season, hitting .473 with 23 kills and 3 aces while setting a season-high for points in a game.
The S&T front row was lethal in their matches against Thomas More last week, racking up 20.5 blocks in six sets and holding the Saints to the two lowest opponent hitting percentages of the season at .027 and -0.049.
About the Hawks
Quincy University is sitting even in conference play currently, splitting their first ten matches at 5-5 with an overall record of 8-11. The Hawks have lost five of their last six matches, most recently being swept in back-to-back matches by Rockhurst.
The Hawks are sixth in the nation for service aces, averaging 1.72 per set. Tomas Baden, Barnabas Fenyvesi, and Bauer Larson all rank in the top six of the GLVC for aces per set, led by Baden's .351. Fenyvesi leads the team in hitting percentage, ranking sixth in the conference with a .241.
Quincy is the conference leader in blocks per set, averaging 2.08 and ranking 31st on the national level. Baden leads the team and the conference in blocks per set, ranking 24th in the nation with an average of one block per set.
What's Next
The Miners have a home/away split series with Maryville next week, hosting the Saints on Wednesday, April 15th at 6pm then traveling to St. Louis for a road match on Saturday, April 18th at 2pm.
