ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T softball continues Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend with a pair of road doubleheaders, traveling to Truman State on Saturday, April 25 before heading to William Jewell on Sunday, April 26. First pitch for both days is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Kirksville, Mo., and Liberty, Mo., respectively.
About the Miners
The Miners enter the weekend at 27-15 overall and 14-6 in GLVC play, continuing to build momentum late in the season. Missouri S&T has been one of the top offensive teams in the conference, hitting .292 as a team with 238 runs and 45 home runs on the year, while maintaining a .387 on-base percentage.
Leading the way is Taylor Nelson (Hailey, ID/Phillips Exeter Academy), who is batting an impressive .426 with 16 home runs and 41 RBI, while Claire Lopez (Olathe, KS/Olathe Northwest) (.328) and Kaylee LaChappell (.333) continue to provide consistency at the top and middle of the lineup. AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X) (13-8, 2.31 ERA) and
Mia Miller (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) (11-5, 3.83 ERA) anchor a pitching staff with a 3.34 team ERA, helping the Miners stay balanced on both sides of the ball.
About the Bulldogs
Truman State enters the weekend with a 17-27 overall record and a 9-11 mark in GLVC play. The Bulldogs are hitting .268 as a team with 174 runs scored, while allowing opponents to bat .304, highlighting some inconsistency defensively and in the circle.
Cassie Smith leads Truman State offensively with a .486 batting average and 68 hits, while Emily Wood adds power with six home runs and a .583 slugging percentage. In the circle, Jayda Long leads the staff with a 2.94 ERA and a 9-7 record, as the Bulldogs hold a 4.86 team ERA entering the weekend.
About the Cardinals
William Jewell comes into the weekend at 17-25 overall and 8-12 in GLVC play. The Cardinals are hitting .277 as a team with 175 runs and 25 home runs, but have allowed 251 runs on the season, posting a 5.55 team ERA.
Mikayla Chairez leads the Cardinals with a standout .488 batting average and 10 home runs, while Amanda Chung (.307) and Reagan Bennett (.289) provide additional offensive production. In the circle, Bennett leads the team with six wins, while multiple pitchers have seen time as William Jewell looks for consistency heading into the final stretch of conference play.
