The Miners responded with a 6-2 run that put them in the drivers seat at 11-10, eventually adding to the lead at 14-12. Roosevelt pulled ahead again in the following points, stringing together three in a row to hold a one-point lead at 18-17. A kill by
Grant Edmonds (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) and a solo block by
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) gave the Miners the lead again at 19-18 before they closed the set emphatically on a 6-0 run, with Meyer contributing four kills.
Roosevelt held a small lead early again in the second frame, but S&T drew event at 6-6 after kills from
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) and
Camden Seaver (Palatine, IL/William Fremd). The Lakers had one of their best stretches of the match through the middle of the set, pulling ahead and holding a two-point lead over the Miners for much of the set. Kills by
Tyler Johnwick (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East), Sallade, and Meyer allowed the Miners to flip the script on the set with a 5-1 run that put them ahead 20-18. The Lakers knotted up the score at 22-all, but Sallade and Meyer claimed the set for S&T at 26-24 after back-to-back kills.
Just like the first two sets, Roosevelt found success early, leading at 6-3 after a trio of early kills. They maintained that lead until 9-7, at which time the Miners pulled away with an 8-0 run that featured five kills and two blocks. Seaver and
Grant Edmonds (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) each recorded aces down the stretch as the Miners held on for the 25-15 set victory to complete the sweep and improve to 7-3.
The Miners' .483 hitting percentage is their second best of the season, with the team recording 48 kills and 6 errors on 87 attempts. Sallade led the team in kills and points with 15 and 17, respectively. Seaver set a new career-high for digs in a match with seven, just one fewer than team-leader
