Miners Sweep Maryville Behind Big Day from Agers, Davis

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri S&T softball completed a GLVC doubleheader sweep Sunday at Maryville, earning a 7–2 win in game one and a 7–5 victory in game two behind standout performances from AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X) and Jordyn Davis (Broken Arrow, OK/Broken Arrow).

Game 1 – Missouri S&T 7, Maryville 2
Agers led the way offensively and in the circle, driving in five runs on two hits, highlighted by a grand slam to left field in the third inning that gave the Miners an early advantage.

Missouri S&T broke the game open in the third inning behind Agers' grand slam, putting the Miners in control early. She later added an RBI single in the seventh inning to cap off her five-RBI performance.

In the circle, Agers earned the win after throwing a complete game, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings while striking out five and walking three.

The Miners' offense saw contributions throughout the lineup, with Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/Basha), Taylor Nelson (Hailey, ID/Phillips Exeter Academy), and Agers each recording two hits. Missouri S&T also applied pressure on the basepaths with three stolen bases.

Defensively, the Miners were sharp, committing no errors and turning a double play, with Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto) leading the way with seven chances.

Game 2 – Missouri S&T 7, Maryville 5
The Miners completed the sweep with a 7–5 win in game two, fueled by a big offensive surge early and a strong performance from the bottom of the lineup.

After Maryville took a 1–0 lead in the first inning, Missouri S&T responded with a five-run second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Jordyn Davis (Broken Arrow, OK/Broken Arrow) to take control at 5–1.

Davis continued her big day in the third inning, delivering another two-RBI single to extend the Miners' lead to 7–1. She finished with four RBIs on two hits.

The bottom of the lineup played a key role in the win, as Kaylee LaChappell, Morgan Williams (Midland, MI/Midland), and Davis combined for four hits, three runs scored, and five RBIs.

Mia Miller (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) earned the win in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits over seven innings, while striking out five.

LaChappell, Davis, and Agers each recorded two hits for the Miners in the victory.
