Men’s Basketball Defeats Quincy, Improves to 16–4 Overall

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T men's basketball continued its strong run through Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday afternoon, knocking off Quincy University 83–74 inside Gibson Arena to improve to 16–4 overall and 10–3 in GLVC action.

The Miners set the tone early, shooting 45.5 percent from the field in the opening half and building a 39–31 lead at the break. Missouri S&T moved the ball efficiently and attacked the paint, scoring consistently around the rim while also knocking down timely perimeter shots to keep Quincy from gaining momentum. The Hawks kept the game within reach through the first 20 minutes, but the Miners' balanced scoring and defensive pressure proved key.

Missouri S&T took control coming out of halftime, shooting 55.2 percent from the field in the second half and pushing the lead to double digits multiple times. The Miners extended their advantage behind strong interior play and transition opportunities, finishing the game with 34 points in the paint and 13 fast-break points. Quincy made several late pushes, but Missouri S&T answered each time with timely baskets and free throws to seal the win.

Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) led all scorers with 22 points while adding eight rebounds and four assists, anchoring the Miners on both ends of the floor. Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) followed with 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers, while Garrett Hines (Nixa, MO/Nixa) added 14 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting performance from the field. Cameron Stovall (St. Louis, MO/Vashon) chipped in nine points and five rebounds, and Alex Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) contributed seven points and a game-high eight assists as Missouri S&T finished with 20 assists on 31 made baskets.

Missouri S&T shot an even 50.0 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from beyond the arc, while holding a 37–30 rebounding advantage and forcing 13 Quincy turnovers. The Miners also received solid production off the bench, scoring 15 points from reserves in the conference victory.

Missouri S&T continues GLVC play next week with a three-game stretch, beginning at home against Illinois Springfield on Tuesday, Feb. 10, then traveling to Truman State on Thursday, Feb. 12, and closing the week at William Jewell on Saturday, Feb. 14.
