Miners Hosting Peacocks and Hawks for Pair of Theme Games

ROLLA, MO  --  Missouri S&T Men's Basketball Will be back in Gibson arena this week for home games against Upper Iowa University on Thursday night and Quincy University on Saturday. Thursday night's game will be Whiteout, with fans encouraged to wear white to the game, while Saturday's game will be the annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation game presented by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
 
About the Miners
S&T dropped in the national rankings this week, moving to #24 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll after a loss at Indianapolis. The miners are now 14-4 this season and 8-3 against Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opponents, putting them 5th in conference standings.
 
Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) and Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) are leading the miners in scoring for conference contests, averaging 17 and 15.5 points per game, respectively. Beauchamp Continues to be one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, connecting on 40.3% from long range. Young and Rickman Remain 2 of the top threats defensively in the conference, with Young ranking second in blocks and Rickman second in steals.
 
About the Peacocks
UIU has struggled recently, dropping four of their last six games, including a three-game losing skid against William Jewell, Rockhurst, and Southwest Baptist. The Peacocks have gone from receiving votes in the NABC poll to sitting at sixth in the GLVC standings with a 9-4 conference record.
 
Kyle Hrncir leads the Peacocks in scoring, rebounding, and assists this season, earning GLVC ranks of 8th in points per game (17.2 PPG), 3rd in rebounds per game (8.8 RPG), and 8th in assists per game (3.6 APG). Trey Lewis has also been a top scorer for UIU during in-conference games, averaging the 11th most points per game at 16.6.
 
About the Hawks
Quincy knocked off then 22nd-ranked Peacocks back in January, but have been on a losing streak ever since, dropping four in a row. The Hawks have the third-worst scoring margin in conference games this season, coming in at -8.1 and scoring the fourth-fewest points per game at 70.7.
 
Ethan Bolton is the Hawks' leading scorer, averaging 14.8 points per game, but is closely followed by teammates Camren Kincaid (14.7 PPG) and Tiernan Stynes (13.4 PPG). Bolton is fourth highest in the GLVC for shooting percentage through 12 games, connecting for 61 field goals on 109 attempts to shoot 56% from the field. Quincy also boasts the third-best blocker in the GLVC in Jakeb Wallingford who is averaging 1.4 blocks per game.
 
What's Next
The Miners will host UIS on Tuesday night as a makeup game from January before hitting the road for their final two road games of the regular season.
