Beauchamps's Career Night Fuels 78-70 Victory over Lincoln

ROLLA, MO  --  Missouri S&T defeated the Lincoln Blue Tigers 78-70 on Thursday night, led by Blaise Beauchamp's (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) career-high 35 points. The win improves the Miners to 19-7 on the season, marking the first time in program history that the team has recorded consecutive 19+ win seasons.

The Miners jumped out to an early lead, more than doubling the Blue Tigers score in the opening minutes to take a 13-6 advantage. Lincoln would cut the lead to four or less three times in the ensuing minutes, but the Miners answered each time to maintain the lead.

A three-pointer from Zac Brown (Collinsville, OK/Collinsville) and back-to-back jumpers from Beauchamp led the Miners on an 11-0 run midway through the first half, putting them ahead 20-16 with 6:45 on the clock. Lincoln finally broke their six-minute scoring drought with a layup by Tyler Chapman, but Beauchamp responded with a three on the other end of the court. Darron Henry (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) would add a triple of his own in the waning minutes of the first to give the Miners a game-high 18-point lead before heading into the half up 44-27.

The Blue Tigers found success from beyond the arc early in the second half, hitting three triples in the first four minutes and cutting the Miners lead to twelve at 48-36. The Miners continued maintain a double digit advantage through, getting a three from Beauchamp before Cameron Stovall (St. Louis, MO/Vashon) dunked on his defender to return the S&T lead to fifteen.

Lincoln put together a 10-0 run in under three minutes to make it a five-point game at 9:46, threatening the Miners lead for the first time since the first eight minutes of the game. However, a layup by Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) followed by another three from Beauchamp returned the Miner lead to double digits with 6:15 remaining.

The Miners matched the Blue Tigers shot for shot in the final minutes of the game, drawing fouls and shooting 86% from the charity stripe to seal their 19th win of the season.

Beauchamp's 35 points were a career-high, trumping his 29 from a 2022 contest against Indiana State. He also tied his career-high in rebounds, nabbing eight. Young also scored in double digits, putting up 15 and grabbing 4 rebounds.
