S&T Falls to No. 24 Indianapolis on the Road

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T women's volleyball battled No. 24 Indianapolis on Saturday at the Ruth Lilly Center, falling in straight sets, 25-14, 25-13, 25-16.

In the opening frame, Missouri S&T found opportunities to challenge the Greyhounds, with a double block by Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) and Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln-Way West) along with a trio of S&T kills helping the Miners keep even with the UIndy at 6-6. The Greyhounds had built a solid lead at 12-8, but the Miners responded with a kill from decker, an ace by Adelyn Weiler (Ste. Genevieve, MO/Valle Catholic), and a double block by Zipprich and Danielle Wilke (Palmer Lake, CO/Palmer Ridge) to cut the deficit to one before UIndy ended the set on a scoring run to take the opening frame 25-14.

The second set started the way the previous one ended, with the Greyhounds using an early scoring run to take a sizable lead. A pair of kills by Addie Schoenberger (Menomonee Falls, WI/Sussex Hamilton) helped the Miners trim that deficit to six, but the Greyhounds continued to build on their lead, pulling away for a 25-13 victory in the second set.

Missouri S&T's best attacking stretch came in the third set, when the Miners recorded nine kills, led by Grae Hunter (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) who recorded three. Early kills from Wilke and Hunter, along with an ace by Kaitlyn Brady (Springdale, AR/Rogers), kept the Miners in the mix early. UIndy built a large lead with a 7-1 run, going up 21-11. Schoenberger contributed an ace and a block assist late to help the Miners put together a 5-2 run, but the Greyhounds won the set and the match at 25-16.

Mining the Numbers

  • The Miners had a clean sheet on the receive today, committing 0 reception errors — a milestone achieved only twice since 2019.

  • Hunter's trio of kills was a new career-high for the freshman, surpassing her previous best of two.
