ROLLA, MO -- Missouri S&T men's basketball is ranked in the newest edition of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll. The Miners moved up to #16, improving one spot after a week that included victories over William Jewell and Truman State.
S&T had fallen to #17 after a loss to Western Washington in late December, but weathered the storm of the first week back from winter break. Other teams did not fare as well as the Miners, with five schools dropping out of the rankings and three top-6 schools suffering losses.
Michigan Tech remains the Midwest Region leader in the rankings but fell seven spots to #12 after a loss to a Grand Valley State team that is receiving votes. The Huskies are now just four spots ahead of the Miners in the rankings. Meanwhile, Upper Iowa became the fourth region team and second Great Lakes Valley Conference member to be ranked, coming in at #25 while Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conferece's Northern Michigan is #18.
