Gum’s Season-High 19 Points Power Miners Past UIndy on the Road

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T women's basketball picked up a key Great Lakes Valley Conference road win on Thursday night, defeating University of Indianapolis 70–62 at Nicoson Hall to improve to 8–8 overall and 4–6 in GLVC play.

The game featured nine ties and seven lead changes through the first three quarters before the Miners took control down the stretch. After the teams were knotted at 14–14 after the first quarter, UIndy carried a 29–22 advantage into halftime. Missouri S&T responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Greyhounds 22–14 behind efficient shooting to take a 44–43 lead heading into the final period. The Miners sealed the win at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, shooting 16-of-20 from the stripe while holding UIndy to 19 points over the final 10 minutes.

Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) led Missouri S&T with a season high 19 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, while Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) finished with 12 points and five rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting. Anna Finley (Owensville, MO/Owensville) added 10 points, including a key three-pointer during the third-quarter surge. The Miners shot 50 percent from the field for the game and forced 20 turnovers, converting them into 22 points, while also holding a 34–28 advantage in points in the paint.

Missouri S&T will continue its road trip Saturday afternoon as the Miners travel to Lewis for a 1 p.m. conference matchup.
