6/4/2025 8:00:00 AM

ROLLA, MO – Missouri S&T Softball earned five College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Awards this year. Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto), Julia Kanoy (Hamilton, Mo./Penney), Allie Kelly (Park Hills, MO/Central), Taylor Nelson (Jefferson City, MO/Phillips Exeter Academy), and Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/) have all received the honor, performing well both on the field and in the classroom. All five student-athletes maintained a GPA above 3.50 to qualify for the award.

Pitcher Kanoy is the lone senior of the group, earning the award after a season in which she struck out 87 batters and held opponents to a team-low .269 batting average.

Kanoy is joined by three juniors: outfielder Allie Kelly (Park Hills, MO/Central), infielder Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto), and infielder Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/). Kelly was a key piece of the Miners' starting lineup this season, starting primarily in right field for 47 games. Grobe was also a significant contributor, starting all 53 S&T games and tying for the most hits on the team with 52. Meanwhile, Thompson started 49 games—mostly at third base—and hit four home runs this year.

Nelson is the fifth and final Miner to earn All-District honors, leading the team with a .320 batting average. She had a dominant performance at the plate this season, recording eight home runs, 49 hits, and 30 RBIs.
