Final Matches of the Regular Season against Rockhurst, Maryville

4/3/2025 5:41:00 PM

KANSAS CITY & CHESTERFIELD, MO  --  Missouri S&T plays their final two matches of the season in the next six days, playing at Rockhurst on Saturday at 3pm and at Maryville on Wednesday at 7pm.

About the Hawks
Rockhurst has won 15 sets in a row after losing to Missouri S&T two weeks ago, sweeping Roosevelt, LeMoyne-Owen, and Quincy once each as well as Central Christian twice. They are fifth in the Intercollegiate Volleyball Association standings, going 5-3 against conference opponents this season.

The Hawks are 14th in the nation in hitting percentage with a .297 attack percentage. Freshman Aron DeRoy is the team's most consistent attacker, hitting at .414, ranking him 8th in the nation. Lucas Tran is the team's primary scorer though, ranking top 20 in the nation for points per set and kills per set.

About the Saints
Like the Hawks, the Saints are on a 15-set win streak, defeating Thomas More, Wabash, and Edward Waters once and LeMoyne-Owen twice. The Saints are 5-1 in IVA play, beating the Miners earlier this year in straight sets.

The Saints' greatest weapon this season has been their serve, averaging 1.88 aces per set which ranks them 5th in DI/DII. Luke Kraft is the team leader in aces, kills, points, and hitting percentage. His 4.65 points per set is the 11th highest in the nation.

About the Miners
S&T is on a four-game winning streak in the IVA, outscoring their opponents twelve sets to one. Their most recent match was a non-conference contest against #11 McKendree, where the Miners took a set off the nationally ranked team in a 3-1 loss.

Tyler Johnwick's (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) sophomore season is already one for the record books after breaking the record for total blocks in a single season, but he has a chance to set another new record as well, just needing one more solo block to set a new single season record for solos. He is also fourth in the nation in hitting percentage, picking up 121 kills on 225 attempts for a .458 percentage.

What's Next
Missouri S&T will be back at Maryville University on April 18th-19th as the Saints host the 2025 IVA Championships.
