Doubleheaders at Upper Iowa and Quincy this Week for Softball

4/3/2025 4:55:00 PM

FAYETTE, IA & QUINCY, IL  --  Missouri S&T starts off their final month of regular season play with doubleheaders against Upper Iowa and Quincy this week. Games are scheduled at 12pm and 2pm on Sunday and Monday.

About the Peacocks
Upper Iowa is on a four-game skid, losing both doubleheaders last week in games against Drury and Southwest Baptist. They are 11-20 overall after a difficult non-conference schedule, but are 7-9 in-conference, putting them 9th overall and just one game outside of the conference tournament if the season were to end today.

The Peacocks are tied with William Jewell for the third-most homeruns in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 20. Senior Tristin Doster is the team's homerun leader and is tied for second in the conference as well, recording seven this season. The team's batting average is fourth worst in the GLVC though, as they are hitting .256 through 31 games.

About the Hawks
The Hawks are 6-26 overall with a 2-12 conference record, recently picking up their second GLVC win of the season in a split decision against the SBU Bearcats. Quincy has struggled on defense this season, ranking last in the conference in both pitching and fielding. Their ERA is 6.79 and they are allowing batters to hit at .334.

The Hawks' batting average leader is Allyson Maynard, who has recorded 36 hits this season and a .367 average. Their leading pitcher is Kaelyn Conger, the senior has a 5.83 ERA and has struckout 38 batters this season.

About the Miners
After a rough weekend at home last week, the Miners will look to get back into the win column as they make a final push for the GLVC tournament in the last month of regular season play. The team is 7-26 and 4-10 in conference, sitting three games outside of qualifying for the tournament.

The Miners are leading the GLVC in homeruns this season with 22, getting 7 from Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and 6 from Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto). Julia Kanoy (Hamilton, Mo./Penney) leads the team in strikeouts with 69 and is holding opponents to a .281 batting average.
What's Next
The Miners host their final two doubleheaders of the season next weekend, welcoming William Jewell on Saturday for Bark in the Park ahead of Sunday games against Truman State on Senior Day.
