Softball Ending Regular Season with SBU and Rockhurst

4/26/2025 7:45:00 AM

BOLIVAR & KANSAS CITY, MO  --  Missouri S&T softball has their final four games of the regular season today and tomorrow, starting with Southwest Baptist today.

About the Bearcats
At 11-13 in conference and 19-25 overall Southwest Baptist sits just outside earning a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, placing one game behind the 8-seed. They were in good position to make the tournament two weeks ago but have lost 6 of their last 8 games.

The Bearcats' biggest hurdle to overcome in the final games of the regular season will be their pitching as they are second-worst in the conference with a 5.69 ERA. Offensively, SBU boasts one of the best batters in the conference in Angie Micone whose .416 batting average is 5th in the GLVC.

About the Hawks
Rockhurst is .500 in conference play with a 12-12 record, enough to place them 8th in the conference. They will be hosting the Lincoln Blue Tigers today before their doubleheader vs S&T tomorrow.

The Hawks are batting .262 this season… ranking them 10th in batting in the GLVC. They have fared better when in the field though, holding the 6th-best ERA in the conference and recording the fewest fielding errors.

About the Miners
S&T is 10th in the GLVC entering the final weekend of the regular season, with an 11-13 in-conference record and a 14-31 overall record. If the Miners can take all four games this weekend, they will clinch a spot in the GLVC championship tournament.

Their batting against GLVC opponents has continued to improve as the season progresses, now ranking 7th in the GLVC with a .291 batting average. Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk) and Taylor Nelson (Jefferson City, MO/Phillips Exeter Academy) both rank in the top eight for batting average vs conference opponents, with Anderson's .427 ranking fifth.

What's Next
If the Miners make it into the top 8 in conference standings, they will participate in the GLVC Softball Championship Tournament in East Peoria, IL from April 30th to May 3rd.
