Softball Heading for Missouri Western and Lincoln this Week

ST. JOSEPH & JEFFERSON CITY, MO  --  The Miners enter their final two weeks of the regular season, with road doubleheaders against Missouri Western today and Lincoln on Saturday.
 
About the Griffons
Missouri S&T and Missouri Western faced off earlier this season, with the Miners prevailing 4-2 at the Wasburn Invite. The Griffons are now 24-19 and are seventh in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. They have won their last three in a row with victories over Washburn and Emporia State.
 
The Griffons' pitching ranks fifth in the MIAA, recording a 2.61 ERA. Senior pitcher Sydney Rader is second in the conference for ERA with 1.81 and first in strikeouts with 146. They have the worst batting average in the conference though, recording a .247 batting average this year.
 
About the Blue Tigers
At 15-25 overall and 6-16 in-conference the Lincoln Blue Tigers are near the bottom of the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings, with only Quincy University ranking lower. Half of the Blue Tigers GLVC wins came in the last week, with Lincoln winning three of four games in doubleheaders against Truman State and Quincy.
 
They are third worst in the GLVC for batting average at .255 and have the fewest home runs in the conference with seven. The Blue Tigers' leading hitting this season is Abbi Conrad, who has a .367 batting average and has recorded a team-high 44 hits this year.
 
About the Miners
The Miners are 12th in the GLVC, putting up a 9-13 record in-conference. They are coming off a home weekend where they went 2-2 against GLVC opponents.
 
S&T still leads the GLVC home runs, adding another five last weekend for a total of 30 this year. The Miners have three batters on the conference's top ten list for homers, with Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk), Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto), and Taylor Nelson (Jefferson City, MO/Phillips Exeter Academy) recording 8, 7, and 6 home runs.
 
What's Next
The Miners close their regular season with GLVC doubleheaders against Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst next week.
