Men's Basketball Drop GLVC Semifinal Game Versus Lincoln

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Basketball fell to Lincoln in the GLVC semifinals 64-87.

Lincoln won the first half over S&T 37-32. The Blue Tigers took an early four-point lead before a Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, IL/Huntley) three-pointer with 16:46 left. Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) gave the Miners a lead until the Tigers recorded a 5-0 run. Cameron Stovall (St. Louis, MO/Vashon) put in a three-point shot followed by a Lincoln run for a 15-10 lead. Sroka drained another three-pointer with 12:42 left in the half.

Two minutes later, Sroka hit another three-pointer to give S&T a 16-15 lead. Lincoln answered one again as they went out to a 35-22 lead with 6:01 left. S&T went on a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to three points. Stovall had five points for the Miners in that run. Lincoln went into the locker room with a 37-32 lead over Missouri S&T.

Sroka led the game with his 11 points in the first half, while Stovall recorded 10. On the glass, Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) picked up seven rebounds. The Miners shot 40.6% from the field and 50% from three-point range in the first half.
 
The Blue Tigers took down S&T after they outscored the Miners 50-32 in the second half. Young drained a three-pointer early in the half, but Lincoln quickly went on a 7-2 run. The two teams went back-and-forth until Malcolm Davis made the score 54-44 for Lincoln. They went out to a 68-48 lead following an 18-4 run. S&T tried to stage a comeback, but Lincoln stood tall to win 87-64.

Sroka and Stovall both had 16 points to lead the team. Young tallied 13 points with his four blocks and three rebounds. Williams collected 10 rebounds with his six points, five assists and four steals. As a team, S&T shot 37.9% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc. They recorded four blocks and seven steals in the game.
 
What's Next

The GLVC All-Tournament Team will be announced on Sunday night after the championship game. Following the championship, the Miners will find out where they sit in the NCAA Division II midwest regional rankings. The regional is slated for Mar. 15-18, followed by the NCAA Division II Elite eight from Mar. 25-29.
