Men's Basketball to Play Lincoln in GLVC Semifinals

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Basketball is set to play Lincoln in the GLVC semifinals on Saturday at 12 p.m.

Series History

S&T and Lincoln have a long history going back to the MIAA and now the GLVC. The Blue Tigers are 43-38 all-time against the Miners dating back to 1955. The Miners have defeated Lincoln two times this season. They took down the Blue Tigers on Dec. 2 at home 72-54 and on Feb. 27 in Jefferson City 79-75.

In their postseason history, Lincoln is 2-0 against Missouri S&T. They faced each other back in the 1976 NCAA Regional Tournament and fell 84-86 to Lincoln. In the 1981 MIAA Tournament, Lincoln defeated S&T 79-61.

About the Blue Tigers

Lincoln defeated Lewis on Mar. 7 to advance to the semifinals. They are 21-8 overall and recorded a 12-8 GLVC record to finish in fourth place in the conference. In their latest 62-59 win against Lewis, Tyler Chapman tallied 20 points on 6-for-17 shooting. Andreas Fuller was one rebound away from a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Franck Yetna leads the team with 15.6 points per game with his 49.3% field goal shooting and 36.6% three-point shooting. On the glass, Max Ekono has 6.9 rebounds per game to lead Lincoln. Lincoln's defense ranks first in the GLVC this season with their 63.5 points allowed per game. Their +8.4 scoring margin is second in the GLVC behind Missouri S&T.

About the Miners

S&T is 24-4 overall this season following their 17-3 GLVC record. They took down McKendree on Thursday afternoon 70-62 to advance to the semifinals. Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) led the team in that game with his 17 points and five blocks. Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, IL/Huntley) tallied 16 points and Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) had 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Young leads the Miners with his 16.8 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting 57.2% from the field and has 47 total blocks this season. S&T's 84.3 points per game, 49.9 field goal percentage, 27.8 defensive rebounds per game and 4.18 blocks per game all lead the conference. This will be S&T's first ever GLVC semifinals game as they lost every quarterfinal game going into this tournament.
