ROLLA, MO  –  Missouri S&T Softball is set to host its first games of the season this weekend, welcoming the Drury Panthers to Rolla on Sunday for a doubleheader at noon. The games will be part of the team's Alumni Day celebration, during which they will recognize two former student-athletes.

About the Panthers

Drury is 4-10 this season and is coming off hosting the Drury Classic, where they went 2-2, including two extra-inning games. They have found relative success on the mound this season, ranking third in the conference in opponent batting average, holding teams to a .259 mark.

Offensively, however, the Panthers have struggled through their first 14 games, posting a .328 batting average—the third-worst in the conference. In the all-time series against the Miners, Drury holds a narrow lead, up 20-19.

About the Miners

Missouri S&T has split its last six games, going 3-3, with its most recent victory coming against Nebraska-Kearney last week at the Branson Showtime Classic. The Miners' pitching has shown improvement, recording an ERA of 2.00 or lower in three of their last five contests. Freshman Mia Miller (Waterloo, IL/) has led the Miners' efforts on the mound, posting a team-best 4.17 ERA in 11 appearances.

At the plate, S&T ranks fourth in the conference in homeruns per game, led by Taylor Nelson (Jefferson City, MO/Phillips Exeter Academy), who is tied for the fourth-most in the conference with three this season. Jordyn Davis (Broken Arrow, OK/) is also among the conference leaders, ranking second in the category of runners caught stealing.

What's Next
The Miners will have a full slate next week, playing a pair of games at Branson Spring Recess on Thursday before hosting GLVC doubleheaders against Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis over the weekend.
