ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Volleyball is set to play Park and Central State this week as Friday's match was canceled.
About the Pirates
Park is 3-1 after their opening weekend in the Pirate Invitational. Their lone loss came against Jamestown on Jan. 31. Between their three wins, they have only dropped two total sets. Leonardo Maldonado leads all starters with 2.83 kills per set, while Moises Ortiz leads Park with 16 total blocks and 1.14 blocks per set.
The Pirates are 1-0 against the Miners after they topped S&T 3-1 on Jan. 27, 2024. Former Pirate Joao Friedrich picked up 22 kills, three blocks and a .459 hitting percentage against the Miners. S&T's
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) collected 17 kills in that match.
About the Marauders
Central State is 1-5 this season but won their last game at Mount St. Joseph 3-0 on Tuesday. Before their match in Rolla, they will play Maryville on Friday night. Of their five losses, they played #6 Southern California on Jan. 29 at home where they fell 0-3. In their most recent win over Mount St. Joseph, Jaedyn Harris tallied nine kills to lead the team.
S&T is 2-1 all-time against Central State. Their last matchup came on Feb. 10, 2024, where the Miners swept the Marauders 3-0. Tyrone Sands tallied 12 kills and three blocks in that game.
Josh Duett (Grain Valley, Mo./Grain Valley) and Meyer both collected seven kills in that game for S&T.
About the Miners
Through nine matches, the Miners are 3-6. They were 0-6 after they played six straight ranked opponents but picked up their first three wins of 2025 at the QU Invite last weekend. With his performance over the weekend, Meyer picked up the IVA Offensive Player of the Week. He picked up 41 total kills, 4.1 kills per set and a .349 hitting percentage.
Meyer leads the Miners with 2.93 kills per set, while
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) has 2.82 kills per set in second.
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Tyler Johnwick (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) both have 19 blocks to lead S&T. Rohlwing's nine service aces also lead the team.
What's Next
Missouri S&T is back on the road on Feb. 22 at LeMoyne-Owen College. They come back home on Feb. 26 to face Maryville at 7 p.m.
