Box Score MARYVILLE, MO  -- Missouri S&T men's basketball picked up a dominant 80-54 victory over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The Miners improve to 7-1 this season with the win.

The 12th-ranked Miners never trailed in the 26-point victory over the Bearcats after starting the game with a 7-0 scoring run. Zac Brown (Collinsville, OK/Collinsville) contributed heavily early in the game, putting up six points in the first five minutes. Threes by Cameron Stovall (St. Louis, MO/Vashon) and Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) extended the S&T lead to thirteen at 21-8. Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) added seven points in a two-minute stretch later to help the Miners go ahead 42-17. The Bearcats ended the half on a streak though, outscoring S&T 11-2 in the final three and a half minutes to make it a 44-28 game at halftime.

S&T and Northwest Missouri exchanged buckets early in the second half but a three from Alex Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) sparked a 9-0 run that pushed the Miners' lead to 55-33. Benassi and Aidan Burns (Thayer, MO/Thayer) would add two more triples a short while later, with Darron Henry (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) contributing a pair of makes to give the Miners their largest lead of the game of 36 points. A 7-0 run by Northwest Missouri cut that lead down to 29 before Benassi and Beauchamp got things rolling again for the Miners with a couple of makes. Head Coach Bill Walker subbed his starters out with 4:39 left, allowing the Miners' bench a chance to finish out the game as S&T held on for an 80-54 win.

Beauchamp was the Miners leading scorer today, putting up 16 points in just 23 minutes of play. He added 4 rebounds, an assist, and two steals. Brown, Benassi, and Young all scored in double digits too, recording 14, 14, and 11. Young and Brown paced the Miners in rebounds with 8 each. The Miners picked up 52 rebounds in the game, their second-most this season and their most against an NCAA Division II opponent this year.
