Women’s Soccer Set for GLVC Semifinal Showdown Friday in St. Louis

11/12/2025 10:00:00 AM

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After a historic upset in the opening round, No. 8 seed Missouri S&T women's soccer advances to the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament Semifinals, where the Miners will face No. 5 seed Drury on Friday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m. The match will be played at Creve Coeur Park Soccer Complex in St. Louis, Mo.

About the Miners
The No. 8-seeded Miners (9-6-3, 6-5-3 GLVC) reached the semifinals for the third time in program history and the first since 2021 after a thrilling 1-0 upset victory over top-seeded Missouri-St. Louis in Sunday's quarterfinal matchup.

Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) scored the game's lone goal in the 72nd minute, assisted by goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain), who recorded five saves to preserve the shutout.

UMSL outshot S&T 13-9, but the Miners' defensive discipline and counterattack proved decisive in securing the victory.

Benassi continues to pace the GLVC in game-winning goals (7) and ranks among the league's top scorers, while Barcom has been a standout in net all season, earning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 27 and posting eight shutouts this year.

S&T becomes just the third No. 8 seed in the last five years to knock off the top seed in the GLVC Tournament, continuing one of the program's most memorable postseason runs in recent history.

About the Panthers
Drury (10-2-6, 8-1-5 GLVC) enters the semifinals following a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Quincy on Sunday.

The Panthers got goals from Keira Love and Holland Hawkins, while goalkeeper Katy Fitzler tallied seven saves to record the shutout.

Elena Perez and Hawkins have combined for 12 goals on the year, while Fitzler owns one of the conference's lowest goals-against averages.

What's Next
