Miners Hold Tough in 1-0 Road Battle at Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri S&T men's soccer battled to the final whistle but came up short in a 1-0 defeat to Rockhurst on Friday evening in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play at Bourke Field.

The Miners (9-4-3, 7-4-2 GLVC) put together a gritty defensive performance against one of the conference's top offenses, limiting the Hawks to one goal on 20 total shots.

Rockhurst scored the lone goal of the match in the 37th minute when Kaden Cripe finished a header from six yards out off a corner by Asier Olano. From that point on, S&T's defense held firm, keeping the Hawks off the board for the remaining 53 minutes of action.

Offensively, the Miners generated consistent pressure with eight total shots, three of which were on target. Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium), Alexander Burum (Oslo, Norway/Valle Hovin Vgs), and Alonzo Edmond (Gastonia, NC/Gaston Day) each recorded shots on goal, while Luke Giesing (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) and Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) added quality attempts in the attacking third.

Goalkeeper Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) anchored the Miners' defense, tallying three saves to keep the contest within reach. The back line, led by Joseph Sommer (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville), Caden Archer (St. Louis, MO/Vianney), and Burum, absorbed Rockhurst's attack, clearing several dangerous chances in the box.

The Miners will close out the regular season on Sunday, November 2, with a 2:30 p.m. matchup at Southwest Baptist.
