Volleyball Hosting Rockhurst for Halloween Sticker Night Tomorrow; Jewell on Saturday

ROLLA, MO  --  Miner Volleyball is back in Gibson Arena this weekend, with matches against Rockhurst Friday at 6pm and William Jewell Saturday at 3pm. The Rockhurst match is Halloween Sticker night for Pickaxe Platoon Rewards. Attendees of the Rockhurst match are also encouraged to come dressed for Halloween, with the best dressed winning some S&T swag.

About the Miners
The Miners have won four of the last five matches, defeating Lake Erie, Ursuline, Roosevelt, and McKendree in the last two weekends. The Miners had two of their best in-conference matches last week, recording 57 kills against McKendree and hitting at .259 against Missouri-St. Louis who is one of the best teams in the nation. Lexi Kosmopolis (O'Fallon, IL/Newsome) and Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West) each recorded 17 kills in a match last week, with Kosmopolis' coming against UMSL and Decker's against McKendree. 

S&T is among the best in the conference for both blocks per set and service aces per set this year, ranking 4th and 6th. Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) remains #2 in the conference for blocks per set at 1.17, recording 82 total this year. Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West) has served 12 aces in the last 16 sets, vaulting her season average to 0.44 per set, which is 4th-best in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

About the Hawks
Rockhurst is one of two teams who are still undefeated in GLVC competition, going 7-0 this season. They swept Truman State and Upper Iowa last week, while sophomore middle Delaney Hope led the team with 27 kills between the two matches.

Hope is the conference leader in hitting percentage, recording a .401 that is also 14th-best in Division II. Sarah Pyle and Ali Olson are two other key contributors to the Hawks offense, with Pyle ranking 3rd in the GLVC for kills per set and Olson ranking 6th in hitting percentage.

About the Cardinals
The Cardinals are still seeking their first GLVC win of the season. They are 4-17 overall and 0-7 in-conference. After going 3-0 at the Midwest Region Crossover, the Cardinals dropped both of last weekend's matches, falling 3-1 to Upper Iowa and 3-0 to Truman State.

Senior outside Emma Lea Benney is Jewell's leader in kills, picking up 184 for a 2.59 average per set. She has also one of four Cardinals with over 140 digs, being joined by Reaghan Bible (164), Madison Roney (162), and team-leader Alexis Nunn (175).

What's Next
The Miners head on their final road trip of the regular season, traveling to Southwest Baptist and Drury.
