ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's volleyball showed fight throughout Saturday's match but ultimately fell 3-0 to Lewis in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play at Gibson Arena.
The Miners (2-14, 0-5 GLVC) battled through each frame, dropping set scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-22. After a slow start in the opening set, S&T found its rhythm in the second and third, matching Lewis point-for-point and forcing multiple lead changes.
Addie Schoenberger (Menomonee Falls, WI/Hamilton Sussex) led the Miner attack with 11 kills on a .360 hitting percentage, while Lexi Kosmopolis (O'Fallon, IL/Newsome) followed closely with 10 kills and nine digs. Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West) added seven kills and a career-high 16 digs to keep rallies alive, and Avery Patton (Lathrop, MO/Truman) recorded three kills along with two blocks.
Setting duties were split between Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion), who tallied 18 assists and nine digs, and Annie Arand (Washington, MO/St. Francis Borgia), who added 13 assists and six digs. Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) anchored the front line defensively with two block assists, while the team as a whole registered 75 digs, led by Decker, Kosmopolis, and Mehaffy.
Missouri S&T gained momentum late, hitting .193 in the second set and pushing Lewis to eight tie scores and five lead changes in the final frame.
With the result, the Miners move to 2-14 overall and 0-5 in GLVC play.
