ST. LOUIS, MO -- Missouri S&T Women's Volleyball is primed for their third Great Lakes Valley Conference match of the season this Saturday, heading to Maryville University to take on the Saints.
About the Miners
S&T dropped their first two conference matches of the season last week, falling to Truman State and losing a close one against Upper Iowa that had the Miners scoring more points than the Peacocks.
Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West) leads the Miners attack with 2.56 kills per set, recording 110 in the first 13 matches of the season. She is also leading the team in service aces with sixteen.
Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) has continued to dominate at the net, ranking 34th in the nation and second in the GLVC for blocks per set with 1.23 (54 blocks in 44 sets). Zipprich's numbers have contributed to S&T's 77.5 blocks this season that make them 4th in the GLVC for blocks per set (2.04).
Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) is 10th in the conference for assists through the first 13 matches, recording 249.
About the Saints
The Saints are 5-7 but split their GLVC opening week, dropping a 4-set match against Truman State before rebounding with a sweep against Upper Iowa. Maryville ranks in the top 2 in the conference for five different categories this season and rank 7th in the nation for digs per set (19.15).
Junior middle Leslie Loganbach is the GLVC leader and 9th in the nation for blocks per set with 1.45. Ella Brinkmann leads the Saints in kills with 146 and 3.17 kills per set which is 8th-best in the conference. Brinkmann is also 9th in the conference for digs per set with 3.48, while teammate Olivia Klump ranks 2nd with 4.98.
What's Next
The Miners will host their first GLVC matches of the season with Indianapolis on October 10th and Lewis for Pinkout on October 11th.
