Men's Volleyball at QU Invite This Weekend

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Volleyball is on the road this weekend at the QU Invite to face three teams in two days.

Weekend Schedule:

Jan. 31: Missouri S&T at Quincy, 1 p.m.
Feb. 1: Missouri S&T vs. Emmanuel (Ga.), 1 p.m.
Feb. 1: Missouri S&T vs. Roosevelt, 7 p.m.

About the Hawks

Quincy is 3-2 this season but are coming off a 1-3 loss at Lincoln Memorial last Saturday. AJ Goedheer currently leads the Hawks with 2.92 kills per set, while Barnabas Fenyvesi leads with 3.57 total points per set. On the defensive side, Victor Scherer is averaging 2.61 digs per set.

The Hawks are 3-1 against the Miners but faltered in their last matchup as S&T won 3-1 on Mar. 9, 2024. In that game, Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) totaled 20 kills and Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) had 16 for S&T. Quincy was picked to finish in ninth in the MIVA preseason poll following their 5-19 season in 2024.

About the Lions

Emmanuel is 1-4 so far this season and are coming off a 0-3 sweep against Fort Valley State on Jan. 24. Thijs Van der Wal and Lucas Nieves both lead the offense with two kills per set through five games. Greg Bodus is atop all Lions with 12 total blocks so far.

Missouri S&T is 1-0 against Emmanuel in their all-time history. In the Miners 3-0 win back on Mar. 4, 2023, Meyer picked up 15 kills on a .480 hitting percentage. Following a 9-19 season last year, Emmanuel was slated to finish in seventh place in the Conference Carolinas.

About the Lakers

Roosevelt has only played two games this season and are 0-2 so far. Their last game came on Jan. 16 where they fell to Quincy 1-3. Offensively, Mark Zmojdzin has recorded 26 kills in seven sets to lead Roosevelt. Andrea Di Paola is just behind him with 3.33 kills per set.

The Miners are 1-0 all-time against Roosevelt following a 3-0 win on Feb. 16, 2024. Sallade collected 11 kills and a .667 hitting percentage against the Lakers in that match. Roosevelt was picked to finish in ninth in the IVA preseason poll after they went 9-17 in 2024.

About the Miners

Missouri S&T has had a very tough schedule to begin 2025 with six straight top 16 teams. They are 0-6 going into the QU Invite. In their last game at #13 Lewis, Meyer and Tyler Johnwick (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) both recorded seven kills to lead the team in the 0-3 loss.

Sallade leads all S&T players with 2.72 kills per set and 3.03 points per set. Grant Edmonds (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) is atop the setters with 6.76 assists per set through six matches. Defensively, Meyer is first on the team with 1.94 digs per set, while Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) has 12 total blocks through six matches.

What's Next

Missouri S&T will open their 2025 home season on Feb. 6 versus Park at 6 p.m. They will welcome LeMoyne-Owen on Feb. 7 and Central State on Feb. 8.
