CHICAGO, IL -- The Miners are set for their fifth match of the season tonight at 7pm as they are primed to take on #8 Loyola Chicago. This will be the Miners fifth match in a row facing a ranked team.
Men's Volleyball is 0-4 to start the season, but they have faced some of the top teams in the country in those contests, performing well and forcing tight sets.
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) had a strong first week of the 2025 season, recording 35 points and 32 kills and earning All-Tournament honors at the Asics Inviational at UC Santa Barbara. IVA watchlisters
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) and
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) look to continue a strong start to their season as well. Meyer is second on the team in points this season with 30.0, only behind Sallade's 40.0. Rohlwing picked up where he left off last season, dominating at the net and recording four solo blocks and nine total blocks.
The Ramblers are ranked #8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and are 4-0 to start the season, a record which includes a victory over then-ranked #8 Penn State. They boast the fifth best attacking percentage in the nation with a .388 and are also tenth in the nation in kills per set with 12.93. Loyola Chicago's standout player has been Parker Van Buren who has 75.0 points and 60 kills in the first four matches and is tied for eighth in the nation in points per set.
