ROLLA, Mo. – Men's Soccer took down Davenport on Friday afternoon by a score of 1-0.
The Miners have shutout an opponent for the third time in five tries after their 1-0 win against the Panthers. The game started out back and forth, but
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) broke the tie in the 33
rd minute with his first goal of the season. That goal put the Miners in front until halftime.
In the 54
th minute,
Jacob Lee (Atlanta, GA/Dunwoody) recorded a shot on goal, but it was saved by Beau Hudd. Hasan almost put his second in the back of the net in the 80
th minute, however Hudd collected the save once again. S&T stood tall on defense as they did not allow a goal from Davenport.
Missouri S&T tallied 16 total shots and five shots on goal. Hasan had three shots on goal and four total shots.
Afxentis Andreou (Paphos, Cyprus/Lykeo Agios Charalambous) and Lee both had a shot on goal.
Jimmy Sanchez (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) had four shots, while Andreou and
Alonzo Edmond (Gastonia, NC/Gaston Day) both had two.
Defensively, the Miners only allowed seven shots and one shot on goal. Goalkeeper
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) made his lone save from Hudd in the 90
th minute. So far this season, Bruhn has only allowed two goals and has 0.41 goals against average.
What's Next
The Miners will go into GLVC play with a 4-1 record and 1-0 conference record. They will play Drury on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Springfield, Missouri. Next weekend, S&T will travel to Maryville and UMSL to conclude their longest road trip of the season.
