ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Soccer took down Lincoln on Sunday afternoon, their first GLVC win of the season.
In a rainy affair, the Miners and Blue Tigers went into halftime tied 0-0. S&T had chances, but never recorded a shot on goal in the half. On the other side,
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) did not face a single shot from Lincoln.
S&T made some more chances in the second half after
Joao Vieira (Punta del Este, Uruguay/International College) and
Brendan Owens (St. Louis, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) both recorded shots in just a minute apart. In the 72
nd minute,
Luke Giesing (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) opened the scoring with a goal in the bottom right corner. It was Giesing's first career goal.
In the later part of the second half, the Miners faced shots from Lincoln, but the defense held strong as they came away with a 1-0 win.
Giesing, Vieira and Owens had the only shots on goal in the game. Owens recorded two shots in the game.
Andrei Paley (Rogers, AR/Bentonville),
Mustafa Hasan (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) and
Afxentis Andreou (Paphos, Cyprus/Lykeo Agios Charalambous) all had one shot. The Miners only allowed one shot from Lincoln as Bruhn did not have to make a save. Bruhn has only allowed two goals this season through four games.
