ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T had a record number of student-athletes earned a spot on the Great Lakes Valley Conference's academic honor roll for the 2023-24 season, with a total of 294 student-athletes landing a spot on the list for their work in the classroom during the past year.

The 294 honorees – breaking the previous record of 269 reached in each of the last two academic years – were part of a group totaling 3,959 student-athletes from the 14 GLVC member institutions and affiliate members of the conference in men's and women's lacrosse, wrestling and women's bowling.  The associate members accounted for 45 of the selections, meaning 3,914 were named from the 14 institutions that compete on a full-time basis in the GLVC.  The average of 279.6 per GLVC school is the largest average of all-time.

Five of S&T's athletic teams had at 20 individuals named, led by the football team with 56 of its members named and the men's track & field team – winners of the GLVC Outdoor Championships for the fourth consecutive season – having 48 representatives. S&T's baseball team was represented by 31 student-athletes.

The 56 S&T football players make up 18 percent of the total of 304 football players league-wide on the All-Academic team, while the 48 from the men's track & field team is over 19 percent of the overall total of 248 student-athletes in that sport.

A total of 11 Miner teams had at least 10 individuals land a spot on the All-Academic team and seven of those 11 had at least 15 members.  It included 24 student-athletes from the men's cross country team, 23 from the men's soccer team – nearly 16 percent of the 144 individuals named in that sport -- 19 from the women's soccer team, 17 from women's track & field, 16 from the men's swimming squad, 12 student-athletes from the women's basketball team and 10 members of the women's volleyball team.

It also includes 11 members of the men's golf and softball teams, both of whom earned berths to the NCAA Division II regional tournaments last season.

The balance of the squad includes nine from the women's cross country teams and seven members of the men's basketball team.

Each of Missouri S&T's athletic teams had representatives selected to the All-Academic team, which were awarded to all student-athletes with a 3.3 of better grade point average for the past school year with at least two semesters of an academic year at the institution.  Just over eight percent of the overall total of student-athletes on this year's GLVC All-Academic team hail from Missouri S&T.
