About the Opponents:
In their first match of the week, the Miners will face Maryville at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. The Miners played the Saints last month at Maryville, losing 1-3 (25-27, 25-22, 15-25, 17-25). The stats to that match were almost identical in many respects. The Miners had 58 points, 47 kills, 6 aces, and 5 blocks, while the Saints recorded 59 points, 47 kills, 5 aces, and 7 blocks. The difference came down to the hitting percentage, as the Miners would hit at .143, their third worst of the season in that statistic. Maryville Senior Jacob Fischer's .405 hitting percentage is eighth in the country (112 K/ 27 E/ 210 TA).

S&T's second match this week will be against McKendree at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night. The Bearcats hosted the Miners back on February 3rd, with S&T losing in straight sets. The Miners struggled in the first two sets against McKendree before finding their strike in the third. The Miners would only have one attacking error while recording a .318 hitting percentage in the third set. McKendree's Kevin Schuele leads the Bearcats in kills this season with 151 for an average of 3.15 per set. As a team, the Bearcats are averaging 13.12 kills per set, the second most in the country. They are also ranked 20th in the most recent AVCA/NVA National Men's Volleyball rankings.

The Miners will wrap up the week with a match against Quincy at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The last time these two teams played was January 30th in a match that Quincy won 3-0. Despite the straight sets loss, the Miners played very well in the first two sets. They were tied with Quincy at 21-21 before the Hawks took the last four straight points and they led 21-17 in the second set before another big scoring run by the Hawks took the lead, and the set, away. Quincy's Raje Alleyne is averaging 4.42 kills per set, the third most in the country.
