ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Basketball will play Quincy on Saturday afternoon to conclude their first week of GLVC play.
Series History
The Miners are 21-20 all-time versus the Hawks with an 11-7 edge in Rolla. S&T fell to Quincy last season 57-64 at home. In that game,
Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) picked up 17 points and six rebounds for S&T. On the other side, Acheampomaa Danso had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
About the Hawks
Quincy is 5-3 this season but 0-2 in the GLVC after losing to both Upper Iowa and Drury this week. They fell to the Peacocks 84-88 in double overtime and to Drury 82-91 on Thursday night. In their loss to Drury, Nicole McDermott had 28 points and 13 rebounds. Mariann Blass picked up 18 points.
McDermott is second in the conference in points scored at 18.9 per game. She is also tied second on the team in rebounds per game at 7.3. Cymirah Williams leads the Hawks on the glass with 8.1 rebounds per game. In the GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll, Quincy was tied for seventh with Missouri-St. Louis.
About the Miners
The 5-1 Miners are coming off a historic victory against Upper Iowa on Thursday night. They were down by 18 points in the third quarter and ended the fourth quarter on a 21-5 run to win 66-64.
Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) led the game with 15 points and Roberts picked up the game-winning layup. 40 of S&T's 66 points were in the paint.
Franchesca Metz (Downers Grove, IL/Nazareth Academy) leads S&T with 10.3 points per game, while Gum is second with 10. Roberts leads the Miners on the glass with 5.7 rebounds per game and 14 total blocks.
Addyson Kent (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) is first in the GLVC and 16
th in the nation in three-point percentage at 48.5%. S&T was picked to finish 12
th in the GLVC but they have knocked off the preseason fifth and 14
th teams as they have a 2-0 GLVC record.
