INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Miners dropped their second game in a row today, falling to 4-6 on the season after a 55-10 loss to the University of Indianapolis.
The Greyhounds had a fast start, scoring twice in the first two minutes… once off a kick return and once on a 68-yard passing touchdown. After two three-and-outs by the S&T offense, the Miners finally found some success on their third drive of the day, going 75 yards in 12 plays to score a touchdown off a 7-yard rush by
Gage Hershberger (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home). The Hounds would drive down to the S&T19 at the tail end of the first quarter but fail to gain any points from the drive after
Jacob Slavick (Midwest City, OK/Choctaw) blocked a 36-yard field goal try.
The Hounds would find the end zone twice more in the second quarter, with the home team going up 31-7 before halftime. The Hounds and Miners exchanged field goals early in the third quarter, with S&T's score coming on a 41-yard try by
Layne Ryals (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg). A good return by UIndy set them up with a short field, leading to a touchdown three plays later to give Indianapolis a 41-10 lead. The Miners struggled to move the ball in the fourth quarter, while the Hounds scored another two touchdowns to help them hold on for a 55-10 victory.
Tyler Gioia (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) threw for 177 yards on the day, with 92 of those yards going to
Bryson Burns (Clarksville, TN/Rossview).
Carson Prenger (Jefferson City, MO/Blair Oaks) led the team in tackles with 12, while
Bentley Hart (Brookland, AR/Brookland) had 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss.
