ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Basketball is set to take on Emporia State on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00.
Series History
In their all-time history, the Hornets have dominated the Miners 20-4 since 1991 when Missouri S&T was in the MIAA. These two teams have never played each other outside of MIAA play from 1991-2005 when they were both in the conference together.
About the Hornets
Emporia State is 3-3 this season in non-conference play. They are coming off an 89-80 win against Ottawa (Kan.) on Monday afternoon. In that game, Katie Horyna tallied 25 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. She went 10-for-13 from the field for the Hornets.
Horyna leads the team with 16 points per game and is second at 5.7 rebounds per game. Elizabeth Tjaden leads started from the three-point line with a 33.3 percentage. Emporia State was picked to finish in eighth place out of 14 teams in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
About the Miners
S&T is on a two-game winning streak with a 2-1 record coming into this game. Both of their wins came in dominating fashion as they took down Cottey 85-46 and Hannibal-LaGrange 78-28. In their win over the Trojans,
Morgan Luebbering (St. Thomas, MO/Fatima) led all players with 16 points, a new career best. Her 6-for-8 shooting tied a career high.
Luebbering leads the Miners this season with 11.7 points per game. On the glass,
Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) has 5.3 rebounds per game with her nine points per game and six total blocks.
Addyson Kent (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) has led from three-point range with a 41.2 percentage. Missouri S&T was tabbed to finish 12
th in the GLVC Coaches Preseason Poll.
