ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Men's Soccer fell to #9 McKendree on Sunday afternoon 2-0 at the S&T Soccer Field.
Through the first half, the two teams remained scoreless.
Sam Bresette (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) applied early pressure in the 11
th minute after he was saved by goalkeeper Christian Herluf. S&T recorded shots in the first half but Bresette's was the only one on goal for the Miners. The S&T defense did not allow a goal in the first half.
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) saved five shots in that half.
In the 52
nd minute,
Afxentis Andreou (Paphos, Cyprus/Lykeo Agios Charalambous) was saved by Herluf. The Bearcats recorded their first goal in the 59
th minute from Adam Reiniger. Just a few minutes later in the 67
th minute, Reiniger scored a second goal to make the score 2-0. The Miners could not get any more offense going the rest of the match as they fell 2-0.
Bresette, Andreou,
Caiden Harris (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High) and
Andrei Paley (Rogers, AR/Bentonville) all tallied shots on goal. Bruhn made six total saves for the Miners.
With the loss, S&T moved to 6-2-2 and 3-1-2 in the GLVC. They remain in the top half of the conference at sixth. Their next opponents, Lewis and Indianapolis, are both in the top five of the GLVC.
What's Next
The Miners will go on the road to face Lewis and UIndy next weekend. They will face the Flyers on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and the Greyhounds on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. CT. S&T will come back home on Oct. 18 and 20 to take on Quincy and Upper Iowa.
