Volleyball Back Home to Play McKendree and #14 UMSL

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Volleyball hosts their second weekend of the season as they take on McKendree and #14 UMSL.

Match 1: Missouri S&T (6-13, 2-4 GLVC) vs. McKendree (7-11, 2-3 GLVC) Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.

The Bearcats sit one game under .500 in the GLVC coming into this matchup with the Miners. This past weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover, they went undefeated with only one set dropped. They took down Malone 3-0, Lake Erie 3-0 and Roosevelt 3-1. The two GLVC wins this season they have picked up were against William Jewell and Indianapolis.

Destiny Gray currently leads the Bearcats with 3.48 kills per set and is fourth with 2.78 digs per set. Amber Williams has 9.17 assists per set for McKendree this year. In their head-to-head matchup, the Bearcats lead 9-4 all-time with a 5-2 record in Rolla. Last season, S&T defeated McKendree 3-0 after Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) hit for .406 with 15 kills.

Match 2: Missouri S&T (6-13, 2-4 GLVC) vs. #14 Missouri-St. Louis (15-3, 4-1 GLVC) Oct. 26 at 5 p.m.

UMSL dropped from #11 to #14 after they fell to #15 Grand Valley State in the last day of the Midwest Region Crossover. Their 15-3 overall record and 4-1 GLVC record is good enough for third in the conference. The Tritons only conference loss this season came against Rockhurst on Sept. 27 where they loss 1-3. Since then, they have won six of their last seven matches.

Caitlin Bishop is third between NCAA DI, DII and DIII in assists per set at 12.33. Hannah Copeland is second in the conference in hitting percentage at .364 and Iyannah Jackson is fourth at .326. All-time versus the Tritons, UMSL leads 18-11 but the Miners hold a 7-6 advantage at Gibson Arena. S&T fell 1-3 to UMSL last season after Burton recorded 17 kills.

About the Miners

S&T is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover. Between the three matches, Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) recorded three double-doubles. She has 13 double-doubles this season in 19 matches played. Carrillo is ranked eighth in the GLVC in kills per set at 3.75 with 3.18 digs per set.

Defensively, Madison Smith (Boonville, MO/Boonville) is third in the conference in blocks per set at 1.26. Isabelle Monaco (O'Fallon, MO/Living Word Christian) has 3.42 digs per set this season to lead the Miners. Annie Arand (Washington, MO/St. Francis Borgia) and Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) have split setting duties as Arand has 308 and Mehaffy has 325. At the service line, Carrillo leads with 20 service aces.

What's Next

S&T will go back out on the road next weekend to take on Flagler and Lewis on Nov. 1. The following day, they will go east to play Indianapolis. The Miners will conclude the regular season with a three-match home stand that starts on Nov. 9 against Maryville.
