10/24/2024 1:45:00 PM

LIBERTY & KIRKSVILLE, Mo.  --  In the second to last weekend of the regular season, the Miners will be in Liberty on Friday to face William Jewell before heading to Kirksville to play Truman State on Sunday.

About the Cardinals:
The Cardinals currently have the same conference record as the Miners at 2-6-2, getting wins over Lewis and Quincy. The Cardinals are 0-3-1 in the last four matches though, most recently losing 0-1 to Rockhurst
S&T has the edge in the series against William Jewell, with a 7-5-1 record and the Miners being 4-0-1 in the last five matches.

Junior Lux Sands leads the Cardinals in goals and points with 5 and 12, respectively, with the latter stat ranking her seventh in the conference. Jewell is second-worst in both opponent scoring average and scoring margin this season, allowing 38 goals in 13 matches.

About the Bulldogs:
Truman is fighting to get into the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament, as they currently sit at tenth in the conference standings and chase Upper Iowa, who is in eighth. UIU faces two of the top four teams in the conference in the final two weeks, giving Truman an outside chance to sneak into that final spot.

Truman State has dominated the all-time series against S&T, with a 29-8-3 lead over the Miners. The last time these two teams played in Kirksville, S&T won 2-0 in a match that saw goals from Ally Hasken and Sydney Gratz.

Truman's defense has had a strong season, giving up the fourth fewest goals per game at 0.92, with goalie Tatumn Damron making 62 saves and recording the second best save percentage in the GLVC at .838.

About the Miners:
The Miners broke a three-game losing streak with a 1-1 tie against Upper Iowa last week. They look to improve upon last weekend with a pair of wins on the road this week.

Ava Hoenes (Columbia, MO/Hickman) and Greycen Erisman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) led the offensive attack last weekend, combining for 11 shots, 7 shots on goal, 1 assist, and 1 goal scored. Defensively, Savannah Tully (Elkhart, IN/Elkhart) has been a key part of the Miners' back line. The defensive side has also been bolstered with the return of Jillian Pelger (Tulsa, OK/Bishop Kelley) from injury.

What's Next:
The Miners will be in Rolla for their final two home matches of the season, playing Southwest Baptist on Friday and Rockhurst on Sunday for Military Appreciation/Senior day.
