ROLLA, Mo. - Missouri S&T men's volleyball team will look to extend its winning streak to four games when it takes on the Lions of Emmanuel College Saturday at St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington, Mo. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Miners (6-8) enter this contest coming off a straight set victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Monday as
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) led S&T with 17 kills. Meyer ended the match with a .556 hitting percentage to lead the Miners, while
Jordan Orr (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) had a career-high 23 assists and
Zachary Carff (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) and
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) added two blocks apiece.
This season, Meyer leads the team with 176 total kills, averaging 3.67 kills per set while achieving a .264 hitting percentage.
Brayden Kuruzovich (State College, Penn./State College Area School District) leads S&T with 312 assists and is averaging 7.6 assists per set. Defensively, S&T is led in blocks by
Grogan Kraus (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) with 26, while
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) are tied with 21 blocks each. As a team, S&T is averaging 10.1 kills, 9.1 assists and 1.6 blocks per set.
The Lions (5-9) enter this contest on a three-game losing streak with its latest defeat coming at the hands of North Greenville in five sets on Saturday. Emmanuel will play Maryville Friday evening before facing off against the Miners Saturday evening. In that decision against NGU, Jayden Young led Emmanuel with 21 kills and Carlos Guerrero added 17 as the duo combined for 97 attack attempts.
Offensively, the Lions are led by Young with 228 kills as he is averaging 4.3 kills per set, while Guerrero is the only other Lion to exceed 100 kills as he has tallied 105 on the season. Defensively, Emmanuel is led in blocks by Daniel Beacham with 22 and Guerrero with 20, while Nicklas Eichenberger leads the team with 120 digs.
