ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's softball team will close a long break in the schedule as it begins its Great Lakes Valley Conference slate this weekend, beginning with a road doubleheader Sunday at Quincy before hosting Truman State Monday at the S&T Softball Field.

Sunday's twinbill is scheduled to get underway at noon, while Monday's games with Truman State – which were rescheduled from Saturday due to the weekend weather forecast in the region – will start at 1 p.m.

The Miners have not played since dropping a single game to Augustana by a 12-6 count on March 8, a game that saw S&T rally from an early three-run deficit to tie the game but later fall victim to an eight-run sixth inning by the Vikings.  Shannon Flowers (Katy, Texas/Katy) drove in four of the runs for the Miners, which included her second home run of the season.

Heading into Sunday's games, Emma Vaughn (Pevely, Mo./Herculaneum) leads the Miners with a .368 batting average , while Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) is hitting .364 with a team-high four extra base hits.  Elizabeth Viox (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) leads the Miners with 23 hits and is batting .343 on the season as seven Miners with at least 30 at-bats are all hitting over the .300 mark.

One of those seven, Hannah Antzoulatos (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy), leads the Miners with 12 runs batted in as she is hitting .302 on the season.

In the circle, the Miners have a team earned run average of 4.12 entering the weekend, with Mayce Barber (Excelsior Springs, Mo./Excelsior Springs) at 3.42 and Wooldridge at 3.86.  Wooldridge has recorded four wins in the circle, while Julia Kanoy (Hamilton, Mo./Penney) has a staff-leading 47 strikeouts in 38.2 innings of work.

ABOUT QUINCY: The Hawks, who are coached by former S&T head coach Cathy Monroe, is 8-10 on the season heading into its GLVC-opening contests on Sunday.  Quincy has had a long break of its own as it has not played since March 6 when it dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Wisconsin-Parkside; the Hawks had a scheduled doubleheader on Tuesday with Lincoln get cancelled.

Quincy is hitting just .230 as a team in the early going and has only one batter – Taylor Downen – hitting over the .300 mark at .375.  Downen also leads the team with 10 runs batted in and owns a .407 on-base percentage.  Jayle Jennings has made nine starts for Quincy in the circle and has a 4-3 record and 2.96 earned run average, while Brooklynn Fischer has 41 strikeouts in 48 innings.

ABOUT TRUMAN STATE: The Bulldogs wrapped up a trip to Florida on Monday where it went 4-4, which came on the heels of an eight-game losing streak that included four setbacks during the MIAA/GLVC Crossover that S&T also participated in.  Truman is 7-15 on the season heading into its conference opener on Sunday at Drury.

Alex Beard leads the Bulldogs with a .400 batting average and shares the team lead in runs batted in with Cameryn Patterson with 13, while Cassie Smith owns a .354 average on the year.  Annabel Zimmer is 3-4 in the circle with a 3.69 earned run average, while Breianna Klein is 3-5 and has struck out a staff-high 36 hitters in 49 innings.
