ROLLA, Mo. - The S&T men's volleyball team will travel to Maryville University to play a pair of matches over the weekend, starting with Alderson Broaddus on Friday evening at 5 p.m and a rematch with Central State at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Moloney Arena.
The Miners (3-8) enter this weekend's matches coming off a 3-0 loss to Lindenwood Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) led S&T with nine kills and
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) contributed seven as the duo tallied 16 of the team's 20 kills in the match.
Brayden Kuruzovich (State College, Penn./State College Area School District) led S&T with 18 assists and
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) added the lone service ace. On the defensive side, Sallade led with five digs each as Rohlwing and Sallade led with four total blocks each.
This season, Meyer leads S&T with 117 total kills and is averaging 4.36 points per set, with an average of 3.34 kills per set and adding a team-high 28 service aces. Sallade ranks second on the squad with 85 total kills and is averaging just under three points per set and
Josh Duett (Grain Valley, Mo./Grain Valley) has tallied 48 total kills.
Four Miners have at least 10 blocks on the season, led by Rohlwing with 19 and Sallade and
Grogan Kraus (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) with 16 apiece.
Andres Hernandez (Bedford, Texas/Trinity) leads the team with 52 digs while averaging 1.63 digs per match. As a team, S&T is averaging 9.8 kills per set while blocking 54 attacks for points.
ABOUT ANDERSON BROADDUS:
The Battlers (2-6) enter this weekend's match coming off a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Charleston last Tuesday, as Nate Rogers led them with nine kills as Loic Nanchen added six. Rogers also recorded five digs in the match.
On the offensive side, Nachen leads the team with an average of 3.4 points per set while recording a team-high 87 kills, while on defense the Battlers are led by Andrew Nielsen with a team-high 19 blocks. Jaelin Gray has recorded 11 blocks while Nanchen leads with 51 digs.
Both the Miners and Battlers have recorded a win against Kentucky State this season.
ABOUT CENTRAL STATE:
The Marauders (3-8) enter this weekend's decisions coming off a 3-1 setback to Thomas More; Central State won the first set before dropping the final three. In that decision, Cameron Lee led with 17 kills while Tyrone Sands added 11.
This season, Central State is led by Lee with 121 kills as he is averaging 2.95 kills per set, while D'Aaron McCraney has tallied 76 kills and is connecting on 38.6 percent of his swings for points to lead the team in kill percentage. On defense, the Marauders are led by the duo of Alain Tamo-Noche and McCraney in blocks as Tamo-Noche leads with 33 as McCraney has stopped 25 attacks. Victor Scherer leads the team with 150 digs.
On Jan 22, the Marauders defeated S&T in straight sets in Wilberforce, Ohio as Meyer led the Miners with 13 kills and Sallade added 11. Central State was led by Ljubisa Novakovic with 14 kills as Tamo-Noache led with three blocks.
The Marauders will face Maryville Friday before playing S&T on Saturday afternoon.
