Game 2 – Missouri S&T 2, Trevecca Nazarene 0
After being shut out in the opener, the Miners wasted little time in game two as they broke on top in the opening inning. Viox reached on an infield single to begin the contest, then moved up a base on an infield hit by Wooldridge.
Shiane Taylor (St. Jacob, Ill./Triad) followed by reaching on a fielder's choice to load the bases and
Hannah Antzoulatos (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) followed with a two-run single that wound up being all of the scoring in the game.
Wooldridge threw her second straight shutout as she scattered six hits and struck out five. She pitched out of a bases-loaded jam with nobody out in the first and got a little defensive help in the fourth when Viox threw out Brianna Asmondy as she tried to stretch a single into a double to start the frame.
Missouri S&T had six hits in the contest among six different players.
The Miners will return to the field on Friday when it takes on Missouri Southern in the first of five games at the GLVC/MIAA Crossover event. Friday's game in Joplin will begin at 4 p.m.
