2/25/2023 7:45:00 PM

Box Score ROLLA, Mo. - The S&T women's basketball team played its final regular season contest on Saturday and dropped their Senior Day decision 73-57 to Indianapolis at Gibson Arena in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

In the early stages, S&T and UIndy exchanged baskets and were tied at eight after Laura Rodriguez (Gran Canaria, Spain/Baloncesto Torrelodones) made a pair of free throws, but UIndy scored four consecutive points to go up 12-8. Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) cut the deficit to two at 12-10 after sinking two free throw attempts, but UIndy stretched its lead to six at 16-10 on a jump shot in the paint by Alana Wells. Kerr cut the deficit to three on a lay-in with 19 seconds remaining as that remained the score after the first period.

In the opening minute of the second, Eryn Puett (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) cut the deficit down to two after draining a three-point basket at the top of the arc. However, the Greyhounds went on a 6-0 run to take an eight-point lead before the Miners made a 6-0 run of their own, getting to within two when Kristen Keys (St. Louis, MO/Westminster Christian Academy) added a point at the line. UIndy responded with a 9-0 run before where Kerr halted the run with a jump shot at the top of the key to cut the deficit to nine at 35-26. Kerr was able to cut the deficit to seven on the next S&T possession with another jump shot at the top of the key before Sadie Hill made a lay-in to give UIndy the 37-28 lead at the break.

Coming out of the break, Ilani Williams-Harris increased the UIndy lead to 12 on a three-point basket, but thanks to the shooting of Rodriguez, the Miners made a brief run to get back into the contest.  However, the Greyhounds extended their lead back to double-digits on a jump shot by Wells before S&T closed the margin to eight at 51-43 going into the fourth period.  UIndy, however, kept its lead in double figures for much of that final period to earn a split of the season series with the Miners.

The Miners had three players finish in double figures, led by Rodriguez with 20 while Davis contributed 14 points while Kerr added 13. In this decision, the four seniors in Rodriguez, Kerr, Davis, and Kristen Keys (St. Louis, MO/Westminster Christian Academy) combined for 48 of S&T's 57 total points. Kerr led S&T with nine rebounds as Chorus Davis (Kansas City, MO/Lincoln College Prep) secured five.

As a team, S&T held UIndy to 25 percent shooting from behind the arc while winning the turnover battle 14-12.

The Greyhounds were led in scoring by Sadie Hill with 19 points and Lauren With with 15.

The Miners will face UIndy in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament in St. Charles next week.
