ROLLA, Mo. – Robert Berkelman has been named the athletic operations coordinator at Missouri S&T.

Berkelman started his tenure at Missouri S&T in 2002 in the cashier's office as an accounting and fiscal services specialist later transitioning to the senior student support specialist in student financial assistance.  In this position, Berkelman coordinated the federal work study program for the university, providing opportunities for more than 150 students earning over $350,000 and he oversaw and reviewed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program.  In addition, he administered several state funded programs awarding financial aid to over 2,400 students at S&T.   He was responsible for ensuring all federal and state funded programs were awarded accurately and in compliance.
 
Over the past 16 plus years, Berkelman has assisted the athletic department in event management and operations for intercollegiate athletic contests and special events. 
 
"We are excited to have Robert become a full-time member of our team," said Melissa Ringhausen, Missouri S&T's Director of Athletics. "He has been engaged in the athletic department for many years and our staff enjoys working with him.  His transition into the department will be accelerated because of his previous knowledge and experience and I look forward to working with him on a full-time basis."   

Berkelman's main duties will include processing expense reports, ticket sales, managing concessions, overseeing the athletic work study and student worker programs, and monitoring corporate sponsorship agreements.
