ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T linebacker Ben Straatmann (Washington, MO/Washington) has earned another honor for his play during the 2022 football season, as he was selected to the Elite 100 team for the campaign by D2Football.com.

Straatmann, who was the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) all-region team for Super Region 3 in 2022, led the Miners in tackles with 80, including 44 solo stops, eight quarterback sacks and 20 tackles for a loss as he became the first S&T player to have two seasons with at least 20 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.  He led the GLVC in both sacks and tackles for a loss in each of the last two seasons.

Straatmann, who also returned a fumble for a touchdown during the season, was named to the All-GLVC first team for the second straight year and was one of five players league-wide that was a unanimous selection to the squad.

In the 2021 season, Straatmann led NCAA Division II in sacks and ranked among the national leaders in tackles behind the line of scrimmage and set S&T single-game records in both categories during the year.  He was named to Don Hansen's All-America team following the season and was also named on D2Football.com's Elite 100 group prior to the 2022 season.

The GLVC had five players that were selected among the Elite 100, including Quincy offensive lineman B.J. Wilson, McKendree quarterback Turner Pullen and offensive lineman Kenny Thomason, Indianapolis running back Toriano Clinton.
