Miners to host Maryville Wednesday before weekend of road matches.

ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri S&T men's volleyball team will play in front of its home crowd for the third time this season on Wednesday as it hosts Maryville at 7 p.m. in Gibson Arena, before hitting the road for matches at McKendree and Lindenwood on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, as S&T looks to pick up its first road victory of the season. 
 
The Miners (2-6) enter the Maryville match coming off a defeat at the hands of Quincy in straight sets on Friday. Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) led S&T with 11 kills, while Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) contributed nine kills and Josh Duett (Grain Valley, Mo./Grain Valley) added seven. Brayden Kuruzovich (State College, Penn./State College Area School District) recorded all 37 assists for the Miners and Andres Hernandez (Bedford, Texas/Trinity) and Duett each finished with a team-high five digs. On the defensive side, Grogan Kraus (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) and Sallade both had two assisted blocks apiece, while Kuruzovich and Ryan Sword (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) added an assisted block each.  
 
Individually, S&T is led in kills by Meyer with 86 and Sallade with 62 on the season. Kuruzovich has 151 of the team's total 237 assists while Hernandez leads the Miners with 49 digs. On the defensive side, Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) leads S&T with 15 blocks and Sallade has stuffed 11 attacks for points. As a team, S&T has 259 kills on the season with an average of 10.4 kills per set, while also averaging 9.5 assists per set. 
 
ABOUT MARYVILLE: 
The Saints (1-5) enter this matchup coming off a straight set loss at 15th-ranked Lewis, where Jacob Fischer led Maryville with seven kills and Victor Ganev contributed five while Cameron Chambers led with 13 assists.
                                               
This season, the Saints are led in kills by Ganev with 43, while Fischer has added 29 and Luke Van Handel has contributed 28. On defense, Maryville's trio of Fischer, David Fleischer and Ganev have 49 of Maryville's 67 blocks led by Fleischer with 18 and Fischer with 17. As a team, Maryville is averaging 8.1 kills per set while averaging 7.3 assists per set.   
           
For this matchup, each team has recorded a victory over Kentucky State, which has been the only one for the Saints so far this season. The Miners are currently 2-0 at Gibson Arena with sights of staying undefeated at home. 
 
ABOUT MCKENDREE:
The Bearcats (3-2) enter this match on a three-game winning streak, its latest being a 3-2 victory over Harvard University Saturday in Cambridge, Mass. McKendree had three players finish with double-digit kills, led by Kevin Schuele with 15 while Bryce Wetjen contributed 14 and Daniel Duggan had 10. In the victory, the Bearcats had 17 blocks and 54 assists. 
 
This season, McKendree is led in kills by Schuele with 60, while Wetjen has contributed 56 and Kyle Wilson has added 43 kills. Tyler Poulsen has recorded 192 assists on the season while Duggan leads with 18 blocks. 
 
ABOUT LINDENWOOD:
The Lions (1-4) will face Long Island University on Friday before playing Missouri S&T the following day to wrap up action in Robert F. Hyland Arena.  
 
In their last decision against third-ranked Long Beach State, the Lions were defeated in straight sets as Ian Schuller led with 13 kills and A.J. Lewis added nine. Connor Sheehan led with 29 assists as Kyle Deutschmann led with 11 digs. 
 
On offense, Lindenwood is led by the duo of Schuller and Lewis with 100 total kills, with Schuller responsible for 51 of them; each player is averaging at least three kills and three points per set. On the defensive side, Deutschmann leads with 43 digs as Kadin Warner and Rodney Wallace lead Lindenwood with nine blocks each.
