ROLLA, Mo. – After sweeping a doubleheader from Lincoln on Tuesday to snap a four-game losing streak, Missouri S&T's softball team returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend when it heads to the St. Louis area to play a pair of doubleheaders.

The Miners, 18-14 overall and 6-4 in the GLVC, will take on Lindenwood Saturday in a noon twinbill in St. Charles, Mo., then head into west St. Louis County to complete their weekend with a Sunday doubleheader at Maryville that will also get underway at noon.

S&T had a seven-game winning streak snapped over the weekend, but was able to get back on the winning track Tuesday with its 5-0 and 8-3 victories over Lincoln at the S&T Softball Field.  Bryn Wooldridge (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) had an outstanding outing in the circle in game one with a complete game where she allowed only one hit and struck out a career-high 13 hitters, the most by a Miner pitcher since 2010.  She improved her record to 10-5 on the season and brings a 3.23 earned run average into Saturday with a team-high 83 strikeouts in 95 1/3 innings.

Charlye Rowland (Pearcy, Ark./Lake Hamilton), who got the win in game two, has a 7-7 record with a 4.15 ERA and Julia Kanoy (Hamilton, Mo./Penney) returned to the rotation and picked up a save with three hitless innings in game two against the Blue Tigers.

On the offensive side, Ashley Davis (Erie, Ill./Erie) leads the Miners with a .351 batting average and is tied for the GLVC lead in doubles with 12, while Hannah Antzoulatos (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) is batting .347 and her four triples are also tied for the most in the conference.  Elizabeth Viox (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) is hitting .339 on the year and Shannon Flowers (Katy, Texas/Katy) is at .333 while also leading the Miners with six home runs and 31 runs batted in; her RBI total currently ranks seventh in the GLVC.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS:  Lindenwood comes into Saturday's contests with a 24-4 record and is 11-1 in the GLVC, trailing only Southern Indiana in the conference standings.  The Lions had an 18-game winning streak snapped Sunday when they lost the second game of their doubleheader at Rockhurst; all four of Lindenwood's losses have come to teams that Missouri S&T has defeated this season.

Whitney Wendel leads the Lions – who are hitting .310 as a team -- with a .406 batting average that ranks among the top marks in the GLVC, while Whitney Kinser comes into the weekend with a .387 mark for a team that has six regulars hitting .309 or better.  Amandy Weyh is 13-0 in the circle with a 0.62 earned run average that ranks third in NCAA Division II.

Maryville is 12-11 on the season but 7-3 in the GLVC, but the Saints have lost three of their last four contests after winning six straight conference games to begin the league slate.  The Saints have two of the top pitchers in the GLVC in terms of strikeout-to-walk ratio in Emerson Heron, who is second at 7.43 strikeouts for every walk and Reagan Smith, who is ranked eighth in that department.

Heron has a 6-3 record and 1.99 earned run average in 67 innings, while Smith has fanned 46 in 40 innings of work.  At the plate, Taylor Shingler is hitting .357 and ranks third in the GLVC with 15 stolen bases, while Heron – who plays the outfield when she isn't pitching -- is batting .347 with a team-high 18 runs batted in and Erin Sammelmann is batting .315 on the season.
